Forward Nguyễn Xuân Son is advancing quickly in his rehabilitation from injury.
During the FIFA Days break in October, the Thép Xanh Nam Định club has continued training sessions to maintain fitness ahead of the crucial upcoming phase.
Notably, in the latest training session on October 10th, forward Nguyễn Xuân Son was seen returning and joining his teammates. The 1997-born star was able to take shots during this session, indicating he is fully capable of returning soon.
This is extremely good news for Thép Xanh Nam Định fans, especially considering the team is currently facing significant challenges in the V-League. If he returns in time, Xuân Son promises to bring a fresh boost to the club’s attack, helping the team achieve better results in the coming period.
After the first six matches of this V-League season, coach Vũ Hồng Việt’s squad has only scored eight goals, a rather unimpressive rate for the reigning champions. This has indirectly led Nam Định to a streak of three winless games in Vietnam’s top league, including two recent defeats to direct title rivals Ninh Bình and CAHN.
For Xuân Son himself, his return to training also brings hope to the Vietnam national team. The Brazil-born star is expected to be a key goal scorer under coach Kim Sang Sik, especially as Vietnam prepares to face Malaysia, the team currently controlling their own destiny in the race for the sole qualifying spot in Group F of the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers.
Looking ahead, Xuân Son will continue his recovery process and is likely to reach peak condition by early next year. This timing coincides with the start of the second phase of the V-League and provides an opportunity for Vietnam’s national team to prepare thoroughly for the decisive match to qualify for the 2027 Asian Cup finals.
Beating Nepal 3-1 isn’t enough; Vietnam still misses Xuân Son’s difference-making presence Despite defeating Nepal 3-1 in the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers, coach Kim Sang Sik remains unsatisfied as Vietnam wasted numerous scoring chances — a sign that the team still lacks a true “finisher” like Xuân Son.
