Defender Cao Pendant Quang Vinh shared important comments during the Vietnam national team’s practice session before the upcoming rematch with Nepal at Thong Nhat Stadium on October 14.
After a day off, the Vietnam national team resumed training on the afternoon of October 11 at Thong Nhat Stadium to prepare for the rematch against Nepal on October 14. Before the session, French-Vietnamese defender Cao Pendant Quang Vinh spoke to the media about the previous 3-1 win. He said:
"Nepal's team is strong defensively. They defend very solidly and counterattack quickly. They tried to stick to this tactic, but we played well, especially in defense, so I am very satisfied with the match.
However, we need to be more aggressive when we lose possession. Everyone must pressure the player holding the ball. I think that’s all, because everything else was fine," Cao Pendant Quang Vinh commented.
The Vietnam team was unexpectedly equalized 1-1 right after the first half ended. According to vice-captain Cao Pendant Quang Vinh, Coach Kim Sang Sik gave some motivational advice to the team during halftime:
"The coach told us to be patient and to spread out on the field. Nepal had only 10 players in the second half, so we needed patience and faster ball movement to score. After the match, Coach Kim simply said 'congratulations on the win.' He believes we played well.
Currently, we have not discussed the 3-1 victory further. I think in the upcoming training sessions, the coaching staff will make tactical adjustments. We played well, but need to be more determined in defensive transitions. When we lose the ball, the whole team must press harder to regain control as quickly as possible," Quang Vinh emphasized.
When asked about integrating with teammates, Quang Vinh comfortably shared: "I am very proud and happy that the Vietnam team won. When I arrived, the whole team welcomed me warmly.
I play well with my teammates because the Vietnam team has many talented and intelligent players. I’m glad to be a French-Vietnamese player. I also hope more French-Vietnamese players will join the Vietnam team. If they are good, it’s beneficial for both Vietnamese sports and culture."
