Eden Hazard is about to make a comeback with Chelsea!

Eden Hazard is preparing to return to Chelsea, with the ex-Belgian star ready to take the field once more at Stamford Bridge following a stormy departure.

Eden Hazard, who announced his retirement in October 2023, will return to West London on October 12th for a charity match featuring Chelsea and Liverpool legends.

According to The Mirror, Eden Hazard will come back to the place he belongs, embraced by former teammates like John Terry, Petr Cech, Diego Costa, Ramires, and John Obi Mikel. This special event is charitable, with all proceeds donated to the Chelsea FC Foundation and Chelsea Players’ Trust, making Hazard’s return not only nostalgic but also deeply meaningful.

The last time Hazard played in an official match was the 2019 Europa League final , when Chelsea crushed Arsenal 4-1. The Belgian star ended his brilliant journey at Stamford Bridge by lifting the trophy. Just one week later, Real Madrid came knocking with a £100 million deal, closing a sweet seven-year chapter between Hazard and Chelsea.

When Hazard arrived in Madrid, fans believed it was football’s “dream marriage.” The Bernabeu awaited a galáctico ready to shine in La Liga. However, the dream quickly faded. Persistent injuries, declining form, and reduced fitness turned the fairy tale into regret. During four difficult years in Spain, Hazard played only 76 matches and scored just 7 goals, an astonishingly low number for a player once considered among the world’s best. By June 2023, both parties reached their limit, and Real Madrid and Hazard mutually agreed to terminate the contract a year early.

Hazard told L’Equipe: “I have been a fan of Zinedine Zidane since I was a child. Bernabeu, the white jersey... it has a special allure that nowhere else has. Real Madrid is very special, but perhaps I wasn’t the right fit. It’s a club with a ‘proud’ style, and I’m not like that. I also didn’t like the playing style there compared to other clubs. But it was my dream. I couldn’t end my career without ever coming here.”

“I wanted to do it my way and succeed, but Real Madrid is bigger than anyone. It’s very hard to play there. Maybe I needed to train more. I also suffered the worst injuries at the worst times. Surgeries, metal plates, and persistent pain... In the second season, Ancelotti arrived. I was well prepared and played fairly well, but my body was always plagued by pain and injuries that wouldn’t let go.”

At Chelsea, Hazard appeared in 352 games, scored 110 goals, and provided 92 assists. His stats are extraordinary: 595 chances created, 1,441 dribbles with 909 successful, and 638 fouls suffered. Simply put, no one could stop him. Hazard was not only a technical artist but also shone when the team needed him most. His title-winning goal against Crystal Palace in 2015 and the historic equalizer in the “Battle of the Bridge” against Tottenham (a match that helped Leicester City claim the title) remain unforgettable memories.

Hazard has never hidden his affection for Chelsea. He once told The Standard: “I spent seven years there… it was the best period of my career. My best season was the second one under Mourinho, when we won the Premier League and the League Cup. He is ‘The Special One,’ and it’s hard to describe the feeling after each match seeing how happy the fans were.”

However, when asked which coach got the best out of him, Hazard did not hesitate to mention Antonio Conte: “I think my peak at Chelsea was under Antonio Conte. We trained very hard all week, so on Saturdays I always wanted to enjoy the game because I knew the next day would be tough training again. He was very meticulous, always stopping mid-session to adjust tactics: ‘No, we have to do it this way.’ So Saturdays were the best days for me.”

This Saturday evening, under the bright lights of Stamford Bridge, Eden Hazard will return to his “home” — where he once was an icon. His arrival will surely be greeted with thunderous applause, as the Belgian legend dons the familiar blue jersey once again.
