The last of Manchester United's "five mice" has confirmed his future! He will leave on a free transfer next year, and if the Red Devils allow, he could depart in the winter transfer window.

Tyrell Malacia, named among Manchester United's "five mice" by Rúben Amorim in the summer transfer window, has rejoined first-team training. The 26-year-old Dutchman is the sole player who did not complete a move, so he must stay at the club until his contract expires next year. However, it is reported that Malacia has already decided to join Turkish champions Galatasaray next year, and if the Red Devils agree to release him early, he could leave in January.

After the summer window closed, Malacia initially trained with the youth squad for a few weeks since he had been doing individual sessions during the summer camp and needed to catch up. This month, he rejoined the first team as Manchester United registered him for the Premier League, signaling he might be included in the official league squad again. Insiders say the coaching staff always planned for Malacia to return to the senior squad.

During the international break, Malacia shared on social media his extra gym and training sessions. Although he is unlikely to be called up by Amorim, the Dutchman is maintaining good physical condition just in case. Manchester United currently have Diogo Dalot, Mazraoui, Patrick Doğu, Diego Léo, and Luke Shaw as full-backs, with Amad Diallo often playing as a wing-back, so there is no shortage of options.

Therefore, unless there is a major injury crisis, Malacia has little chance to play. Italian transfer expert Fabrizio Romano recently reported that Manchester United plans to part ways with the defender once his contract expires. The Manchester Evening News states that Turkish side Galatasaray is leading the race to sign Malacia on a free transfer.

Galatasaray has already placed Malacia on their summer recruitment list, determined to secure his free transfer. Although a Turkish club attempted to sign him this summer, the deal fell through. Malacia has decided to leave Manchester United after this season, and if Galatasaray agrees to pay a symbolic transfer fee, they could acquire this player—originally signed by Ten Hag for €17 million—already in January.

Despite returning to the first team, Malacia’s relationship with coach Amorim has broken down and is reportedly "irreparably damaged." Moreover, even if Amorim leaves Manchester United in the future, Malacia’s situation is unlikely to improve, as his abilities are deemed insufficient to serve the team regardless of the manager.

Furthermore, The Sun in the UK reports that Manchester United currently has no concrete candidates for a new head coach, but it is certain that England manager Thomas Tuchel is not among the contenders. The 52-year-old Tuchel was considered a frontrunner to replace Ten Hag and even met with the club’s leadership, but ultimately declined, citing the club’s operational methods as unacceptable.

The club’s leadership holds a grudge over this and will not consider inviting Tuchel to coach again. Tuchel’s contract as England’s national team manager runs through the end of the 2026 World Cup, and with England’s qualification secured, it is expected he will complete this tenure.

One of the rumored potential managers interested by Manchester United is Bournemouth’s Andoni Iraola, whose contract also expires next summer. The "Cherries" general manager Pinto stated they hope to keep their coach but have not reached a conclusion yet.

“At Bournemouth, from the front desk staff to club owner Bill Foley, everyone wants Andoni (Iraola) to stay,” Pinto said. “Therefore, we will do our utmost to retain him. I believe Andoni is very happy at Bournemouth, as you can see from his cheerful demeanor whenever he speaks at press conferences. But we understand the realities of football, so we will discuss this internally. Of course, we also hope he continues here.”
