Coach Okiyama Masahiko expresses confidence with the Vietnam U17 women's squad participating in the 2026 U17 Asian qualifiers.
At the pre-match press conference before the start of Group D qualifiers, the coaches of the Vietnam U17 women's team, Hong Kong (China) U17 women's team, and Guam U17 women's team all showed confidence in competing for the top spot to secure a place in the 2026 U17 Women's Asian Cup final tournament.
On October 13 at Go Dau Stadium (Ho Chi Minh City), Group D of the 2026 U17 Women's Asian Championship qualifiers will officially begin with the participation of Vietnam U17 women, Hong Kong (China) U17 women, and Guam U17 women.
Speaking at the press conference held at noon on October 12, Vietnam U17 women's coach Okiyama Masahiko stated he is pleased with the preparation plan, especially as the players had the chance to experience world-class football in Germany. “The Vietnam U17 women had a great opportunity to engage with Germany's top-level football, which allowed them to learn a lot about speed and height. We highly appreciate their style of play. This training camp has given the players valuable experience,” he said.
The Japanese coach mentioned he has limited information about their first opponent, Guam U17 women: “Honestly, our coaching staff doesn't have much data on the opponent, but we will analyze them during the matches and make necessary adjustments. The Vietnam U17 women will give their best effort in every game.”
Coach Okiyama Masahiko also hopes that fans will come to the stadium to support the Vietnam U17 women's team. “We hope the audience will come to cheer for the young players. The Vietnam U17 women will try their best to showcase attractive football and deliver exciting matches for the fans,” Coach Okiyama Masahiko expressed.
The first match of Group D in the U17 Women's Asian Championship qualifiers will take place at 16:00 tomorrow (October 13) between Vietnam U17 women and Guam U17 women at Binh Duong Stadium (Ho Chi Minh City).
