Vice-captain midfielder Nguyễn Hoàng Đức affirmed that despite the somewhat tough win over Nepal in the first leg, such situations are completely normal in football. The Vietnam team is currently preparing actively for the rematch against this opponent, which will take place at 7:30 PM on October 14 at Thống Nhất Stadium.
After a day of rest for recovery at the hotel, Hoàng Đức resumed training with the Vietnam national team at Quận 7 Stadium — the training ground used by Ho Chi Minh City Police Club.
In a press interview before the training session on the afternoon of October 12, Hoàng Đức stated: "Yesterday I was in pain and couldn’t train with the entire team, but today I’m back. However, I need to train with the team and feel the intensity to know exactly how much my body has recovered."

In the first leg, both I and the entire team secured the victory. Although it was somewhat difficult, that is normal in football. After the match, the entire team shared and learned from the experience. Currently, the Vietnam team is actively preparing for the second leg against Nepal at Thống Nhất Stadium. I hope it will be an exciting match."
Recalling the first leg, Hoàng Đức said that although the Vietnam team had the advantage of an extra player, they couldn’t score early and only managed to get a goal in the second half.
"Challenges are normal in football. The whole team has learned many lessons from that match," he added.
During this training camp, coach Kim Sang Sik has called up many players from the U23 Vietnam team to join the national team. According to Hoàng Đức, this is a positive sign that helps prepare the squad for the two matches against Nepal, while also targeting SEA Games 33 and the 2026 U23 Asian Championship.
"The inclusion of U23 players creates positive competition between the two generations — the veterans and the new faces," Đức commented.
The midfielder wearing number 14 also expressed his regret that Nguyễn Quang Hải was not part of this training camp: "I’m very sorry that Quang Hải is not here. Hopefully, in the next training camp, he will fully recover and return to the Vietnam team."
In this afternoon’s training session, central defender Bùi Tiến Dũng was again absent and did not join the team on the field.
Tiến Dũng is still suffering from back pain and is very likely to miss the upcoming rematch against Nepal. This is unfortunate news for coach Kim Sang Sik in arranging the lineup for the second leg.
If Tiến Dũng cannot play, coach Kim Sang Sik still has many options with young players such as Nguyễn Nhật Minh (Hai Phong Club) and Nguyễn Hiểu Minh (PVF-CAND Club).
