The head coaches of Hong Kong (China) U17 women's team and Guam U17 women's team are both confident about securing a spot in the AFC U17 Women's Championship finals.
At the pre-tournament press conference before the start of Group D qualifiers, the coaches of Vietnam U17 women, Hong Kong (China) U17 women, and Guam U17 women all expressed confidence in their race for the top position to qualify for the 2026 AFC U17 Women's Championship finals.
Regarding her team, Guam U17 women's coach Chyna Ramirez stated this is a great opportunity for them to showcase their abilities. “This qualifying round is a valuable chance for Guam to demonstrate and develop our youth women's football. The weather here is quite favorable and does not affect our players,” she said.
When assessing Vietnam U17 women's team, Guam's coach said: “We are aware of Vietnam teams' success in previous tournaments. Guam is well prepared to face strong opponents. Naturally, we are considering an appropriate strategy,” said Chyna Ramirez.
Meanwhile, player Hope Hutapca shared: “We have been preparing since last year. Guam has ensured strong technical and tactical readiness for the qualifiers.”
Hong Kong (China) U17 women's coach Chan Shuk Chi mentioned that her team has prepared thoroughly: “Before arriving in Vietnam, we had a short training camp in Thailand to adapt to weather conditions similar to Vietnam. Therefore, our players are in their best form.”
Player Chong Ching Lam Jaylynn also expressed that Hong Kong (China) U17 women's team has prepared very well: “Hong Kong (China) U17 women's team has been preparing since July. We have had multiple training camps recently.”
The opening match of the AFC U17 Women's Asian Qualifiers Group D will take place at 16:00 tomorrow (October 13) between Vietnam U17 women and Guam U17 women at Binh Duong Stadium (Ho Chi Minh City).
The qualifiers feature 27 teams divided into 8 groups: 3 groups of 4 teams and 5 groups of 3 teams. The eight group winners will join four teams already qualified for the final tournament of the 2025 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup Morocco 2025 — North Korea, Japan, South Korea, and China — who are granted automatic entry.
