On October 13 at Go Dau Stadium (Ho Chi Minh City), Group D of the 2026 AFC U17 Women's Asian Cup qualifiers will officially begin featuring U17 Vietnam, U17 Hong Kong (China), and U17 Guam teams.
In the pre-match press conference, U17 Vietnam coach Okiyama Masahiko expressed satisfaction with their recent preparations, highlighting the players' exposure to world-class football in Germany:
“The U17 Vietnam women's team had a great opportunity to experience top-level football in Germany, learning a lot about speed and height. We highly appreciate their style of play. This training trip has provided valuable experience for our players.”
The Japanese coach also mentioned limited information about their first opponent, U17 Guam: “Honestly, our coaching staff lacks detailed info on the opponent, but we will analyze them during the match and make necessary adjustments. The U17 Vietnam women's team will give their best in every game.”
On her part, U17 Guam coach Chyna Ramirez said this is a good chance for them to showcase their abilities. “This qualifier is a great opportunity for Guam to demonstrate and develop their youth women's football. The weather here is quite favorable, so it won't affect our players.”
Regarding U17 Vietnam, Guam’s head coach commented: “We are aware of the success of Vietnamese teams in previous tournaments. Guam is prepared to compete against strong opponents. Of course, a suitable strategy is what we are currently planning,” said Chyna Ramirez.
Meanwhile, player Hope Hutapca shared: “We have been preparing since last year. Guam has ensured solid technical and tactical readiness and is ready for the qualifiers.”
