French-Vietnamese defender Cao Pendant Quang Vinh showed deep emotion and pride as he received the Vietnam national team captaincy for the first time during the 3-1 win against Nepal in the 2027 Asian Cup qualifying match.
The 3-1 win over Nepal in the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers not only secured valuable three points for Vietnam but also marked a special milestone in Cao Pendant Quang Vinh’s career as he wore the national team captain's armband for the first time.
During the match at Binh Duong Stadium, in the 84th minute when center back Duy Manh was substituted, the captain's armband was handed to Quang Vinh. It was an emotional moment not only for the 1997-born French-Vietnamese player but also for the entire team, as he was entrusted with this significant responsibility wearing the red and yellow jersey.
Speaking to the media, Quang Vinh expressed his heartfelt emotion and pride: “I am very proud and happy to wear the captain's armband of the Vietnam team. Honestly, I never expected to be part of the leadership group and given this opportunity, especially in a match where the team secured a victory.”.
