Center-back Bùi Tiến Dũng is unlikely to participate in the rematch against Nepal due to incomplete recovery from injury.
At 7:30 PM on October 14, the Vietnam national team will face Nepal again in the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers. This match is not only about securing 3 points but also aiming for an impressive victory to meet fans' expectations under coach Kim Sang Sik.
Speaking at the pre-match press conference, Coach Kim Sang Sik stated: "In the previous game, we won 3-1, and in the upcoming match, the whole team must continue to win and play with greater confidence. Nepal will likely defend deeply, so we need to coordinate well, move smartly, and finish more effectively. I hope the players will give their best playing at Thống Nhất Stadium in front of our supporters."
However, the Korean strategist also shared some disappointing news: center-back Bùi Tiến Dũng is almost certain to miss the rematch due to injury. The Viettel player has been absent from recent training sessions as he has not fully recovered:
"Bùi Tiến Dũng played the first half against Nepal. Afterwards, he experienced back pain and missed recent trainings. Due to this injury, it is unlikely he will participate in tomorrow night's rematch against Nepal,"the coach said

"However, there are many players who can fulfill the tactics I set. We are arranging the gameplay to cover the gap he leaves, aiming for a tighter defense. The backline must not concede goals."
Bùi Tiến Dũng had injury issues from the start of the national team’s training camp. Yet after several days of recovery, Coach Kim Sang Sik started him in the match against Nepal on October 9. Early in the second half, he was substituted off for Văn Vĩ.
