Vietnam U17 wins decisively 5-0, 'wide open' the door to the 2026 AFC U17 Women's Championship final round
In the opening match of the 2026 AFC U17 Women's Championship qualifiers, the Vietnam U17 women's team achieved a dominant 5-0 win against Guam.
Vietnam U17 women's team started impressively in the 2026 AFC U17 Women's Championship qualifiers by defeating Guam U17 5-0 in the opening match held on the afternoon of October 13.
Right from the kickoff, Coach Okiyama Masahiko’s squad quickly took full control of the game. Vietnam U17 pushed their formation forward, applying heavy pressure on the opponent's half and continuously launching varied attacks. In the 20th minute, Minh Ánh capitalized on a defensive error by Guam to open the scoring. She then doubled the lead in the 39th minute with a skillful finish inside the penalty area.
In the second half, Vietnam maintained their dominance. Yến Nhi scored the third goal in the 53rd minute after a beautiful combination with Minh Anh and Hồng Thái. Then Minh Ánh made an impact again with a long-range shot that the Guam goalkeeper failed to hold, extending the lead to 4-0. Before the match ended, Hồng Thái headed in a precise goal from Trần Thị An’s corner kick, sealing a 5-0 victory for Vietnam U17.
On the other hand, Guam U17 barely created any significant threats and had to defend intensely for most of the match.
This emphatic win gave Vietnam U17 a strong start and opened the door wide for qualification to the 2026 AFC U17 Women's Championship final round, as the team holds a significant advantage in points and goal difference.
In the last match on October 17, Coach Okiyama Masahiko’s team will face Hong Kong (China).

Minh Anh dribbled down the right wing and passed inside to Hồng Thái, who laid it off for Yến Nhi to finish and increase the score to 3-0.

Thu Phương failed to control the ball but accidentally passed it to Minh Ánh. Number 10 executed a volley with the inside of her right foot to make it 2-0, completing her brace.
On the other side, Guam U17 still could not create any dangerous chances.

On a set piece, Linh Chi delivered an accurate long pass into the box for Hải Yến to head close-range, but the shot was too weak and the Guam goalkeeper caught it.
