Marcus Rashford is enjoying a strong resurgence at Barcelona and straightforwardly criticizes the lack of stability at Manchester United as the reason for his downturn in recent seasons.

After departing Manchester United to join Barcelona on loan, Marcus Rashford is thriving in his new team and does not hesitate to point out that the unstable environment at Old Trafford caused his recent performance drop.

In an interview with ITV, the English striker candidly stated that the constant changes in managers, playing philosophies, and team atmosphere at Man Utd made it difficult for him to maintain top form. “Stability is an extremely important factor. I felt I was in an unstable environment for a very long time at MU, and that made it incredibly hard to keep consistent performance levels,” Rashford commented.

Joining Barcelona at the start of this season, Rashford initially did not have full confidence from the Catalan club’s management, but he quickly proved his worth.

So far, the 27-year-old has scored 3 goals and provided 5 assists in just his last 7 matches, becoming Barcelona’s key attacking threat. His rapid adaptation and steady form have prompted the club to consider activating the purchase option in his contract.

Before finding success in Spain, Rashford went through a difficult period at Manchester. He was excluded from coach Ruben Amorim’s plans, sent on loan to Aston Villa, and even listed among the “bomb squad” — players left out of Manchester United’s summer tour squad.

Since making his first-team debut under Louis van Gaal in 2016, Rashford has worked with eight different managers at Old Trafford. Although Man Utd won some trophies like the Europa League and FA Cup, they have yet to regain the glory of Sir Alex Ferguson’s era. According to Rashford, this constant turnover caused instability that hindered his full potential.

“To maintain stability, you need consistent elements in life and training. Too many changes made it difficult for me to sustain peak performance. Now, I want to focus forward, aiming to play at the highest level more regularly. When I’m in good form, I truly love everything about football — it’s a special feeling,” Rashford added.

With his impressive performances at Barcelona, Rashford is hopeful that coach Thomas Tuchel will give him greater opportunities with the England national team, especially ahead of the World Cup next summer. He is competing for a starting spot in the upcoming friendly against Latvia and seems on track to reclaim his status as one of England’s top attacking talents.
