The Brazilian talent Vinicius Junior is confronted with charges of "disrupting public peace" back home after hosting a birthday celebration spanning two days in Rio de Janeiro.

The Real Madrid player held his 25th birthday at a luxury estate in Rio from July 19th until the early hours of July 21st. This venue is well-known for hosting major events like weddings and corporate parties. However, the music, fireworks, and loud shouting from the party caused complaints from many nearby residents.

According to O Globo, a neighbor filed a complaint with authorities, claiming the noise was excessively loud and “shattered the neighborhood’s peace.” The person reported calling the military police to intervene due to the prolonged disturbance. When officers arrived, they requested the organizers to lower the volume, and Vinicius along with guests temporarily complied. Nevertheless, the music reportedly got louder again after the police left, escalating the situation.

The Special Criminal Court No. 9 in Rio de Janeiro has taken up the case and scheduled a preliminary hearing for November 6th. Under Brazilian law, the offense of “disturbing others’ work or peace” can result in imprisonment from 15 days to 3 months, or a fine. Although a minor charge, the star’s court appearance has attracted significant international media attention.

Although neither Vinicius nor Real Madrid have issued official comments, this incident once again highlights how fame can sometimes be a double-edged sword, especially when luxury exceeds community limits.
