Kluivert's poor track record with the Indonesian national team: The failure in the World Cup qualifiers was just the 'last straw'

This afternoon, October 16, 2025, the Indonesian Football Association (PSSI) officially announced the termination of the contract with Patrick Kluivert, the head coach of the Indonesian national team.

The announcement followed Kluivert’s failure to help Indonesia qualify for the 2026 World Cup, after losses to Saudi Arabia and Iraq in the fourth round of the Asian qualifiers.

According to PSSI’s official statement, not only Patrick Kluivert but the entire coaching staff, including Alex Pastoor and Denny Landzaat, must leave the team.
