Hendrio holds Vietnamese citizenship and will represent the national team in the match against Malaysia.

Midfielder Đỗ Hoàng Hên Hendrio Araujo has officially gained Vietnamese citizenship and will be eligible to represent Vietnam’s national team after fulfilling the five-year residency requirement by next December.

According to the latest news, after a long period of waiting and completing all formalities, midfielder Đỗ Hoàng Hên has officially become a Vietnamese citizen. The Brazilian-born player, formerly named Hendrio Araujo, was supported by Hanoi Football Club to apply for Vietnamese citizenship after moving from Thep Xanh Nam Dinh Club.

The naturalization process for Đỗ Hoàng Hên started at the end of last season. Hanoi FC registered him as a domestic player, which meant he had to remain inactive during the early part of the 2025/26 season. Up to now, the 1994-born player has officially obtained Vietnamese nationality.

Previously, he was unable to appear for his new team because the procedures were not completed, so he was still considered a foreign player.

In the near future, Đỗ Hoàng Hên will apply to transfer his federation affiliation from Brazil to Vietnam. This process takes about 10-14 working days.

He still needs to wait until December 2025 to complete five years of residency in Vietnam and meet FIFA’s criteria to be eligible to play for the Vietnam national team.

Hendrio Araujo Dasilva (commonly called Hendrio) is one of the prominent foreign players of Hanoi FC in the V-League. The Brazilian-born player, born in 1996, was developed at Barcelona and Real Betis academies, and is known for his exquisite personal technique and high creativity.

Before joining Hanoi FC, Hendrio had impressive performances with Binh Dinh and Thep Xanh Nam Dinh clubs, where he was a key figure helping the teams maintain high rankings in the V-League. In the 2023/24 season, Hendrio made a mark with many beautiful assists and significantly contributed to Thep Xanh Nam Dinh’s challenge among the top teams in the standings.

Joining Hanoi FC from the 2025/26 season, Hendrio is expected to bring creativity and unpredictability to the midfield. His intelligent style, good ball control, and ability to create chances quickly made him a vital part of coach Harry Kewell’s tactical setup.

With his experience competing in the V-League, Hendrio is regarded as the new "conductor" of the capital’s team in their pursuit of the championship this season.

Following Hendrio, the Vietnam national team is likely to have more naturalized players soon, such as Patrik Lê Giang (Cong An TP.HCM), Janclesio, Geovane Magno (Ninh Binh), Rimario (Thanh Hoa), and Gustavo (Da Nang).
