Coach Thomas Tuchel affirmed that Jude Bellingham being left out is not a disciplinary action, and also shared his strategy to foster unity to support England's pursuit of the World Cup championship after six decades of waiting.
Thomas Tuchel stated he will personally reach out to Jude Bellingham before the England squad gathers in November, but emphasized that this does not guarantee the Real Madrid star a spot at the 2026 World Cup. This decision has attracted significant attention since Bellingham was dropped from the list in October, despite just returning from shoulder surgery.
Tuchel stressed that leaving Bellingham out is not intended as a punishment. "This is not a penalty; they have done nothing wrong. Whenever I message or talk to them, everyone is eager to come back – and that is the right attitude. I trust more players than those currently present."
During Bellingham's absence, England performed impressively with four consecutive wins, keeping clean sheets and scoring 15 goals, including a 5-0 victory over Latvia to officially secure qualification for the 2026 World Cup. Nevertheless, the German coach confirmed he maintains contact with players not called up because he wants the whole team to share the goal and fighting spirit. "I will talk to many players, including those not on the list. They need to feel they are still part of the group," Tuchel said.
With upcoming matches against Serbia and Albania, although England has already secured top spot in the group, Tuchel believes these games are valuable opportunities to maintain winning momentum and strengthen team cohesion. "I can't promise we will win the World Cup, but we will aim for it with a strong, united team and the right mentality. Everything is being built on the pitch – and that is the foundation for everything."
Tuchel believes that team unity is the key factor that will help England make a difference at the 2026 World Cup. Could Jude Bellingham’s comeback provide the missing piece to turn the dream of winning into reality?
