The Football Association of Malaysia has been awarded the silver prize in the AFC President’s Recognition for Community Football category.
The AFC Awards Riyadh 2025 ceremony took place on the evening of October 16, 2025, at the King Fahad Cultural Center in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, starting at 8:00 PM local time (midnight on October 17, Vietnam time). The Football Association of Malaysia also received an AFC honorary award.
Specifically, the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) was nominated by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) for one of the awards honoring community football activities, in the AFC President’s Recognition category.
According to the announcement, FAM was one of the three finalists in this category, competing with the Guam Football Association and the All India Football Federation. The nomination reflects AFC’s acknowledgment of FAM’s development programs and community-focused initiatives recently implemented.
In the end, the Football Association of Malaysia won the AFC President’s Recognition Award for Community Football Development – Silver. The gold award went to the UAE Football Association, while Bangladesh’s federation received the bronze.
Designed to provide a structured and inclusive environment for young players aged 5 to 16, Malaysia’s Liga Suparimau, which won the AFC Best Grassroots Competition award in November 2024, is a nationwide platform continuously evolving to meet the needs of community football across the country.
Using a collaborative approach, the Football Association of Malaysia has also successfully driven greater investment into football development through strategic partnerships with Nestle-Milo, the J8 Sports Company for autistic individuals, and the Malaysian Recreational Sports Association.
With strong belief in football’s power to improve lives, the association has implemented numerous social responsibility initiatives, including the important FAM – Milo Ultimate Experience and the Football Leadership Program for All in Asia and Oceania, as part of efforts to expand the positive impact of this wonderful sport.
