Round 8 of the 2025/26 Premier League season is set to be highly thrilling, centered on the major battle between Liverpool and Manchester United at Anfield, a fixture that consistently ignites passionate feelings no matter the teams' positions.

Liverpool currently sits second in the standings with 15 points, just one point behind Arsenal. After a brilliant start to the season, coach Arne Slot’s team has recently hit a rough patch with three consecutive losses against Crystal Palace, Galatasaray, and Chelsea. This has put considerable pressure on the Dutch manager, especially as he faces the biggest rival in The Kop’s history.
On the side of Manchester United, head coach Ruben Amorim’s squad is in 10th place with 10 points and has shown inconsistent form. Despite a recent win over Sunderland, United’s gameplay remains somewhat uninspiring. The trip to Anfield presents an opportunity for Manchester United to regain their composure, but it could also be a decisive match for Ruben Amorim’s job security if they suffer another defeat.
Arsenal have officially taken the lead in the table after a comfortable 2-0 victory over West Ham in the previous round. Mikel Arteta’s team will visit Fulham, who have struggled this season. With Bukayo Saka in fine form and one of England’s strongest defenses, the Gunners are expected to maintain their top position after this round.
Tottenham is also accumulating points well, with 14 from 7 games, although their style of play is still not fully settled. In round 8, Spurs will host Aston Villa, a team showing signs of revival. A victory would keep Thomas Frank’s side close to the leaders and increase pressure on Liverpool and Arsenal.
Chelsea, after an impressive win over Liverpool in the last round, will start round 8 with an away game at Nottingham Forest. Under Enzo Maresca, the Blues are becoming more cohesive, and Chelsea’s resilience is especially evident despite missing their star player Cole Palmer. Another win could bring Chelsea closer to the top four.
Former champions Manchester City will return to Etihad Stadium to host Everton. Pep Guardiola’s team needs three points to chase the top spots, especially with Erling Haaland and Foden both performing excellently. However, Everton, led by David Moyes, remain a potential threat if the Citizens become complacent.
Besides the headline games, round 8 of the Premier League will also feature several notable clashes: Crystal Palace vs Bournemouth, Brighton against Newcastle, and Sunderland hosting Wolves. West Ham and Brentford will close the round early Tuesday morning (Vietnam time).
With a series of key matches, especially the Liverpool vs Manchester United showdown, round 8 promises to be one of the most exciting rounds since the season began, where every mistake could alter the top standings.
