The head coach of the Vietnam national team personally visited the stadium to observe Hendrio’s performance.
After officially acquiring Vietnamese citizenship on October 17th, Hendrio, also known as Đỗ Hoàng Hên, made his debut for Hanoi FC just one day later. The Brazilian-born midfielder who recently naturalized was immediately included in the starting lineup by new head coach Harry Kewell for the 7th round of the V-League when Hanoi FC hosted Ninh Binh.
Notably, the head coach of the Vietnam national team, Mr. Kim Sang Sik, was also present in the stands at Hang Day Stadium to watch this match. It seems the Korean strategist wanted to see Đỗ Hoàng Hên in action firsthand to accurately assess the naturalized player's current form.
It should be noted that Coach Kim Sang Sik and the Vietnam Football Federation were the ones who proposed supporting Hendrio’s naturalization. This indicates that the Korean coach intends to have Đỗ Hoàng Hên serve in the Vietnam national team. However, Hoàng Hên still needs to prove his abilities.
It is known that the Vietnam Football Federation will soon submit the necessary documents and handle procedures for Hendrio to FIFA, requesting permission for Đỗ Hoàng Hên to play for the Vietnam national team. Therefore, Hendrio is expected to make his debut for the national team, possibly as early as March 2026 if called up by Coach Kim Sang Sik. He will officially be eligible to wear the Vietnam jersey starting January 2026.
At the citizenship certificate ceremony, Mr. Nguyễn Minh Châu, Deputy General Secretary of the Vietnam Football Federation, congratulated Hendrio, now Đỗ Hoàng Hên, on officially becoming a Vietnamese citizen.
“We are very excited to welcome a new member into the Vietnamese football family. Congratulations to Đỗ Hoàng Hên on his new life and mindset in Vietnam, along with the love that the Vietnamese people have for him. We hope Đỗ Hoàng Hên will continue to demonstrate professionalism, dedication, and soon make meaningful contributions to Vietnamese football both at the club and national team levels,”said Mr. Nguyễn Minh Châu, Deputy General Secretary of the Vietnam Football Federation.
