Following the dramatic 2-1 win against Borussia Dortmund, coach Vincent Kompany showered compliments on Harry Kane as well as the team's overall determination at Bayern Munich.
In the post-match press conference, Kompany especially commended the resilience and efficiency of the main striker Harry Kane, who continues to lead Bayern's attack. He emphasized:
“Harry Kane can certainly improve even further, although he has already performed outstandingly for us since the start of the season. Messi and Ronaldo have set very high standards, so people tend to think scoring consistently like Kane does now is normal. But in reality, it’s extraordinary. He fights tirelessly for the team and once again played a crucial role for us.”
Not only praising Kane individually, Kompany also expressed pride in the team’s flexible attacking system that makes it hard for opponents and experts to predict: “I like that everyone has to ask: Who is the striker today? Who is the playmaker? Who is the conductor? That shows we are building a smooth and effective offense.”
Kompany also admitted there are special qualities he cannot coach Kane: “I can’t teach Harry Kane how to head like that. Some things can’t be taught, like the instinct to find the right position inside the box. He does it exceptionally well.”
Despite the win, the Belgian coach showed respect for Dortmund: “Credit to BVB. They came back strongly after being dominated in the first half. We occasionally lost rhythm, but the players stayed connected and knew how to score at the right moment when the opponent was energized.”
Notably, Kompany is not complacent after the winning streak. He affirmed Bayern’s goals remain ahead: “I don’t focus on what’s been achieved. Winning 11 matches in a row is fantastic, but I want to win another 11 games. That has to be our mindset.”
Kompany’s remarks indicate that Bayern under his leadership relies not only on the individual talent of stars like Harry Kane but also builds a strong collective spirit, a key factor if the "Bavarian Giants" want to conquer all trophies in the 2025/26 season.
