British-Vietnamese Lee Williams’ first appearance in the V-League fell short of expectations as he played a subdued role in the 0-0 draw between Công an TP.HCM and Hồng Lĩnh Hà Tĩnh at Thống Nhất Stadium.
Forward Lee Williams officially made his debut for Công an TP.HCM in the goalless draw against Hồng Lĩnh Hà Tĩnh during the 7th round of the 2025/26 V.League season. This was the first time the 2007-born player was given a chance to play in an official match by coach Lê Huỳnh Đức, with high hopes from the police football club’s fans.
However, contrary to expectations, Lee Williams’ performance was rather lackluster. Playing as a striker, the British-Vietnamese player barely made any significant impact throughout his time on the pitch. He was frequently cut off by Hồng Lĩnh Hà Tĩnh’s defense, had limited touches on the ball, and failed to demonstrate the expected movement or finishing skills.
Facing a disciplined and aggressive pressing defense, Lee Williams appeared quite unsettled trying to find space. His actions were slow and indecisive, causing Công an TP.HCM’s attacks to be easily disrupted. Despite teammates’ efforts to support the newcomer, Lee Williams did not register a single shot on target and was almost invisible in the attacking line.
By mid-second half, coach Lê Huỳnh Đức had to substitute him for another attacker to refresh the lineup. Being taken off early indicated that Lee Williams still needs more time to adapt to the demanding environment of the V.League and better understand the team’s tactical philosophy.
Although his debut did not meet expectations, Lee Williams is still regarded as a promising signing for Công an TP.HCM’s future. At 18 years old, this British-Vietnamese footballer has many opportunities to prove himself, and if he improves his ball control, fitness, and confidence soon, he can become a key figure in the police club’s long-term plans.
