Coach Thomas Frank showed deep frustration after Tottenham lost at home to Aston Villa.
Tottenham faced a bitter setback in the 8th round of the Premier League with a disappointing home loss against Aston Villa.
After the match, Thomas Frank insisted that the "Spurs" deserved at least a point and voiced his dissatisfaction with his players' performance.
Specifically, the Danish manager stated: "The game unfolded exactly as I anticipated, between two quality and fairly balanced teams.
There were not many chances created, and overall, the result could have gone either way. In my opinion, a 1-1 draw would have been a more equitable result for both sides.
Aston Villa scored two goals from shots outside the box in unexpected moments. We must acknowledge those as moments that showcased their class. However, we also had opportunities to win.
Villa made excellent use of plays that seemed harmless, while we missed four or five clear chances. If someone had told me before the game that their only shots would come from those positions, I would have felt completely confident."
Before the match, Tottenham unexpectedly lost the service of center-back Cristian Romero due to an injury during warm-up.
Nevertheless, Thomas Frank brought good news, suggesting that the 2022 World Cup winner's injury was not serious and he could return in upcoming matches.
He added: "He suffered a minor groin muscle injury. There had been some discomfort in recent days; initially, we thought everything would be fine, but in the end, it wasn't. Still, I believe the injury is not severe."
The home team started well when Rodrigo Bentancur opened the scoring in the 5th minute. However, before halftime, Morgan Rogers shined with a stunning long-range strike, allowing Aston Villa to equalize.
After the break, the visitors continued to play impressively and were rewarded in the 77th minute when Emiliano Buendia curled a precise shot into the low left corner, sealing Aston Villa's victory.
This result caused Tottenham to miss the chance to improve their position, remaining 6th with 14 points, while Aston Villa climbed to 11th place with 12 points.
