Chelsea is in talks to appoint Dave Fallows, ex-Liverpool scouting director, for a significant role in their sports operation aimed at overhauling the club’s transfer approach.
Chelsea is currently negotiating to invite Dave Fallows, former Liverpool Director of Scouting and Recruitment, to assume a senior leadership role within the sporting division at Stamford Bridge. This move is seen as the latest step in The Blues’ efforts to restructure their football management under owner Todd Boehly.
Fallows, aged 45, spent 12 years working at Liverpool before leaving the club in October 2024. He was the key figure behind numerous successful signings such as Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino, Alisson Becker, and Andrew Robertson, all of whom helped Liverpool secure their first Premier League title in 30 years, along with several other major trophies during Jurgen Klopp’s era.
According to revelations from The Athletic, if an agreement is reached, Fallows will collaborate with Chelsea’s current sporting directors Paul Winstanley and Laurence Stewart, as well as co-heads of recruitment Joe Shields and Sam Jewell. He is expected to oversee scouting, youth development, and football strategy planning — areas where he previously excelled at Anfield.
Joining Liverpool in 2012 after working at Manchester City, Newcastle, and Bolton, Dave Fallows pioneered the use of data analytics in player recruitment. This approach enabled Liverpool to discover many “hidden gems” and build a strong, stable squad during Klopp’s peak years.
Fallows’ arrival at Chelsea is anticipated to help the London club address longstanding weaknesses in their recent transfer strategies. Under Boehly’s leadership, Chelsea has spent heavily but with limited success, signing many young players who have yet to fulfill their potential.
Appointing an experienced expert with a strategic vision like Dave Fallows not only signifies an improvement in personnel but also represents a long-term move to build a sustainable foundation aimed at competing for the Premier League title in the near future.
