Liverpool supporters expressed disappointment in a player following their loss to Manchester United in the Premier League.
Liverpool suffered one of their most forgettable defeats this season when they lost to Manchester United at their home ground, Anfield in the 8th round match of the Premier League.
The Kop fans continued to endure a gloomy period as their beloved team suffered their fourth consecutive defeat, marking the worst stretch since Arne Slot replaced Jurgen Klopp last year.
One of the players who caused the greatest disappointment for Liverpool was Mohamed Salah, who missed a clear chance to score just before Cody Gakpo equalized, extending his streak to four games without a goal or assist.
With Liverpool trailing 1-2 in the final minutes, coach Slot decided to substitute Salah, bringing on Jeremie Frimpong.
Commentary on air Sky Sports, Gary Neville commented: “Perhaps many haven’t noticed, but Arne Slot’s decision to take Salah off when Liverpool needed an equalizer says it all. He was clearly unhappy with his performance.”
On social media, many Liverpool fans also voiced their frustration.
One wrote: “Salah, what’s going on with you?”
Another expressed irritation: “Salah is really getting on my nerves.”
Another comment added: “Salah should have scored or passed to Wirtz in the final play, but he did nothing.”
A straightforward fan said: “Salah, it’s heartbreaking to watch you play like this.”
In the 85 minutes he was on the pitch, Salah left no positive impact beyond disappointing statistics. The Premier League’s best player last season had no successful dribbles, lost possession 16 times, and missed a one-on-one scoring chance.
Meanwhile, other Liverpool stars also underperformed.
Despite playing at home, the Merseyside team conceded early when Bryan Mbeumo capitalized on a defensive error to score in the 2nd minute.
Trailing, Arne Slot’s squad pushed forward aggressively to apply pressure and seek an equalizer. After missing several chances, the hosts were finally rewarded in the 78th minute when Cody Gakpo calmly scored. However, that joy was short-lived. Just six minutes later, Harry Maguire rose high to head in the winning goal, sealing a thrilling 2-1 victory for Manchester United.
This defeat caused Liverpool to fall behind in the title race, dropping to 3rd place with 15 points, now 4 points behind Arsenal and 1 point behind Manchester City. On the other hand, Manchester United breathed a sigh of relief as they secured back-to-back Premier League wins for the first time under coach Ruben Amorim, climbing to 9th place with 13 points.
