(Football result) - AC Milan staged a comeback to beat Fiorentina 2-1 at San Siro, with Rafael Leao scoring twice, allowing them to temporarily lead the Serie A table after matchday 7.
AC Milan continued their strong form by overturning the score to win 2-1 against Fiorentina at San Siro, thereby temporarily climbing to the top of the Serie A standings after the seventh round.
The match started cautiously. Milan controlled possession better, but the first half was rather dull with few dangerous chances created. Fikayo Tomori had an early chance to open the scoring in the 5th minute, but his shot went over the bar. In the 19th minute, Luka Modric delivered a beautiful cross to Pavlovic, but the Serbian player struck the ball too hard from a good position. Throughout the first 45 minutes, Fiorentina was almost invisible in attack, failing to register a single shot.
Rafael Leao stood out the most for Milan. He consistently troubled the visitors’ defense with his speed and skill, although he lacked a bit of sharpness in the final touches. The first half ended goalless.

In the second half, the tempo increased and all three goals were scored in this period. Fiorentina surprisingly took the lead in the 55th minute following a free-kick routine, when Robin Gosens quickly tapped in after a header pass from Ranieri.
However, Milan responded swiftly. In the 63rd minute, Pavlovic played a precise long ball to Leao, who executed a beautiful right-footed curl to equalize 1-1.
At the 83rd minute, a turning point occurred when Gimenez was fouled inside the penalty area. After VAR review, the referee awarded a penalty to Milan. Leao calmly converted it, beating De Gea to complete his brace and secure a 2-1 victory for the Rossoneri.
Despite bringing on Dzeko and Gudmundsson late in the game, Fiorentina couldn’t break through Milan’s solid defense. With the full three points, coach Allegri’s team officially climbed to the top of the table, one point ahead of Inter.
