Former player Lê Công Vinh is said to have requested to serve as a trainee coach for the U19 squad of Sông Lam Nghệ An soon.
According to Bongdaplus, the ex-striker Lê Công Vinh has proactively sought to join as a coaching intern with the U19 Sông Lam Nghệ An (SLNA) team for a brief period. His goal is to gain practical coaching experience after recently completing the first term of the AFC/VFF B-level coaching certification which took place in Hà Tĩnh last September.
This internship request also allows Công Vinh to complete practical assignments and submit reports to instructors before advancing to the next phase of his training course.
During the recent match between SLNA and CAHN, Công Vinh was seen in the stands at Vinh Stadium. After the game, the former Vietnam national team striker went down to the field to greet, shake hands, and encourage his former teammates at SLNA, including coach Văn Sỹ Sơn, assistant Phạm Văn Quyến, and Nguyễn Huy Hoàng.
In September last year, Công Vinh officially earned his professional coaching license after completing the AFC/VFF ‘C’ coaching certificate course organized by the Vietnam Football Federation in collaboration with the Japan Football Association.
Two months later, SLNA announced their coaching staff, and surprisingly, Công Vinh was listed as an assistant coach. However, shortly afterward, the former player born in 1985 clarified that he had not officially accepted the position and would consider cooperating with SLNA at a more suitable time if the opportunity arises.
Lê Công Vinh is regarded as one of the greatest forwards in the history of Vietnamese football. Representing the national team, he scored 51 goals in 85 matches, holding the record as Vietnam’s top scorer of all time to date.
The most memorable highlight of Công Vinh’s international career was his header goal against Thailand in the 2008 AFF Cup final, securing the first regional championship for Vietnamese football. Additionally, he won the Vietnamese Golden Ball three times (2004, 2006, 2007) and played for prominent clubs such as SLNA, Hà Nội T&T, Bình Dương, and Consadole Sapporo.
