In the match between PVF-CAND Club and Thanh Hóa on the evening of October 19, midfielder Doãn Ngọc Tân made his comeback following a period of injury.
Doãn Ngọc Tân was brought on by coach Choi Won Kwon in the 71st minute, when Thanh Hóa was trailing the home team PVF-CAND 2-1. Although he did not have much impact yet, the return of the captain midfielder is a positive sign for the Thanh Hóa team in the upcoming phase.
Doãn Ngọc Tân suffered his second consecutive injury in 2025 at the end of August. Specifically, he broke a rib and had to undergo emergency surgery on the evening of August 27, causing him to miss matches for both Thanh Hóa and the Vietnamese national team over the past two months.
After the recovery period, the Thanh Hóa captain is not yet fully healed but decided to "take the risk" to play again with the hope of helping his team overcome difficulties:
"It has been just over 7 weeks since I broke my rib. I tried very hard to come back, even though playing now is a bit risky. But I want to stand with my teammates through this tough time. I accept the risk to help Thanh Hóa successfully avoid relegation," Doãn Ngọc Tân shared after the match.
Doãn Ngọc Tân was discovered by coach Kim Sang Sik at the 2024 AFF Cup. Since then, he has become an indispensable midfielder in the Korean strategist’s lineup. However, injury has caused Ngọc Tân to miss many important matches for the Vietnamese national team recently.
As for Thanh Hóa Club, they managed to secure a valuable point when the match ended. In the 78th minute, assisted by Ngọc Mỹ, Trịnh Văn Lợi scored the equalizer to make it 2-2.
