Coach Choi Won Kwon reveals the situation at Thanh Hoa Club following their continued winless streak this season.
Thanh Hoa Club is still on the quest for their first victory in the new season. Playing away against PVF-CAND Club, the Thanh Hoa team raised hopes with Nguyên Hoàng’s opening goal in the 40th minute of the first half. However, in the second half, the home team scored twice in the 60th and 67th minutes through Xuân Bắc and Anh Quân. Thanh Hoa’s efforts were rewarded with a 2-2 equalizer by Văn Lợi in the 78th minute.
Although earning a single point was a tough challenge, Thanh Hoa still has not managed to win any matches this season. Across 7 V-League rounds and 1 National Cup qualifier, the Thanh Hoa team has recorded 4 draws and 4 losses.
Regarding the team’s situation, head coach Choi Won Kwon admitted that Thanh Hoa Club is facing various difficulties: "The players have gone through many hardships but continue to give their best. I feel the same. As head coach, I take responsibility when the team does not achieve good results.
So far, we have not received any allowances, but I have not given up nor left the team. The future is uncertain, but every day we still step onto the field, working hard with the sole goal of winning.
Since the start of the season, I have apologized many times. Sometimes I wonder if I must keep apologizing like this forever. But the reality is, we still have not brought joy to our fans."
After the very successful 2024 AFF Cup victory, assistant coach Choi Won Kwon unexpectedly left the Vietnam national team. Since Coach Kim Sang Sik took over in Vietnam, Choi has been considered a key assistant, playing an important role similar to what Lee Young Jin was for Coach Park Hang Seo.
The reason for this departure was that assistant coach Choi Won Kwon wanted to try his hand as a head coach and took charge of Thanh Hoa Club. However, since leaving the Vietnam national team to lead the Thanh Hoa squad, the Korean strategist has yet to secure a single win.
