The La Liga clash between Real Madrid and Getafe descended into turmoil when coach Jose Bordalas claimed that Vinicius Jr and Jude Bellingham provoked his players, resulting in two red cards for Getafe.
Real Madrid secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Getafe in a tense La Liga match early on October 20 (Vietnam time). Kylian Mbappe’s lone goal helped Los Blancos maintain their lead at the top of the table, but the aftermath centered on controversies involving Vinicius Jr, Jude Bellingham, and Getafe’s coach Jose Bordalas.
At the Coliseum stadium, Real Madrid struggled against the home team’s tight defense. After coming on in the second half, Vinicius injected pace and energy into the attack but also became the focal point of clashes. Shortly after Allan Nyom entered the game, he received a red card for fouling Vinicius. Taking advantage of the extra man, Mbappe quickly scored from Arda Guler’s assist to seal a narrow win for Real Madrid. Near the end, Getafe’s Alex Sancris was also sent off for a foul on Vinicius, leaving the hosts with nine players.
After the match, coach Bordalas spoke out with accusations: “Vinicius touched my face and then fell pretending. At most, it deserved a yellow card. He didn’t need to provoke me by saying ‘great substitution.’” The 61-year-old manager also revealed: “Bellingham said something too, and I told him to focus on playing and not talk so much.” According to Bordalas, the fouls and red cards “decided the outcome of the match,” rendering his team’s efforts useless.
Not only the coach, but Getafe players also showed their frustration. Defender Juan Iglesias was caught on camera saying to Vinicius: “That’s why everyone hates you. Learn to behave like your teammates.”
Meanwhile, Real Madrid can be pleased as Mbappe continues his outstanding form with 10 goals in 9 La Liga matches. This win keeps the Royal Club at the top of the table ahead of the El Clasico against Barcelona on October 26. Will Vinicius and Bellingham remain the center of attention in the upcoming big match?
