Vietnam’s beloved national goalkeeper suffers a serious injury

Goalkeeper Bùi Tiến Dũng suffered a major injury and had to exit the game unwillingly in the match where Đà Nẵng played as the away team against Viettel.

Just returning from injury, goalkeeper Bùi Tiến Dũng was chosen to start in round 7 of the V-League when SHB Đà Nẵng played away against Thể Công Viettel. Facing a stronger opponent, Bùi Tiến Dũng was expected to be a solid defensive pillar so Đà Nẵng could leave Hàng Đẫy stadium with at least one point.

However, bad luck continued to haunt Bùi Tiến Dũng. After just over 15 minutes of play, the goalkeeper born in 1997 was forced to leave the field due to injury. He landed awkwardly after rushing out of the goal to intercept and was unable to continue playing. The Đà Nẵng goalkeeper had to be stretchered off just after returning from a previous injury.

From observation, Bùi Tiến Dũng injured his knee and had it stabilized with a brace before being taken off the pitch on a stretcher. SHB Đà Nẵng then had to bring on substitute goalkeeper Phan Văn Biểu. This injury appears quite serious and may require him to be sidelined for some time.

Phan Văn Biểu came on to replace Bùi Tiến Dũng but made a mistake by misjudging the ball’s trajectory after Nhâm Mạnh Dũng’s header, leading to the final 1-2 defeat. It’s unfortunate that just after returning from injury and starting for Đà Nẵng, Bùi Tiến Dũng has to sit out again due to another injury.

As an indispensable pillar in the Han River club’s goal, Bùi Tiến Dũng played a crucial role in helping SHB Đà Nẵng avoid relegation last season, notably with an outstanding performance against Bình Phước in the play-off match. Entering this season, the 1997-born keeper continued to show consistent form by starting four consecutive matches, including three V.League games and one National Cup match.

However, just when he was in great form, Bùi Tiến Dũng unexpectedly suffered a shoulder injury during training before the match against PVF-CAND. This setback forced him to miss nearly a month of competition, absent from matches against PVF-CAND, Becamex TP.HCM, and Hanoi FC. During this period, SHB Đà Nẵng earned only 5 points from 6 rounds and lost all three home games, a record that disappointed coach Lê Đức Tuấn.
