Goalkeeper Bùi Tiến Dũng suffered a torn knee ligament and will be sidelined for the entire 2025/26 V-League season.

The medical check-up results delivered unfortunate news for goalkeeper Bùi Tiến Dũng and SHB Đà Nẵng club, as he was diagnosed with a torn right knee ligament and will be sidelined until the end of the 2025/26 V-League season.

The incident took place during the late match of round 7 in the LPBank V-League 2025/26 at Hàng Đẫy stadium on the evening of October 20, between Thể Công Viettel and SHB Đà Nẵng.

At the 16th minute, during an aerial ball, Bùi Tiến Dũng rushed out of the penalty area to challenge striker Lucao. He jumped very high to block, but landed poorly after a strong mid-air collision, immediately falling to the ground in pain while clutching his knee.

Doctors quickly rushed onto the field to provide first aid before Bùi Tiến Dũng was stretchered off amid the concern of the coaching staff and teammates. SHB Đà Nẵng’s number one goalkeeper had to leave the match early, making way for Phan Văn Biểu.

On the morning of October 21, the goalkeeper born in 1997 underwent an MRI scan to assess the injury severity. The results revealed a torn right knee ligament, forcing him to undergo surgery and long-term treatment.

Earlier, SHB Đà Nẵng’s coach Lê Đức Tuấn stated at the post-match press conference: "Dũng’s injury seemed not as severe as initially expected. We had him undergo a detailed examination. He had just recovered from a shoulder injury that lasted nearly two months and worked very hard to return, but unfortunately encountered this setback. We hope the outcome will be more optimistic."

However, the test results this morning have ended Bùi Tiến Dũng’s season.

In the upcoming period, Phan Văn Biểu will be given the chance to start for SHB Đà Nẵng, although in the match against Viettel he made a judgment mistake that led to the decisive goal. The backup for Văn Biểu will be Đặng Tuấn Hưng.

This serious injury is a huge shock for Bùi Tiến Dũng, who was once the hero of Vietnam’s U23 team at Thường Châu 2018 and is now striving to regain his form with SHB Đà Nẵng.
