(Football result) - PSV Eindhoven shocked everyone by coming from behind to beat Napoli 6-2.
PSV Eindhoven made history at Philips Stadion by staging a comeback to crush Napoli 6-2, securing their first Champions League win this season. Despite trailing initially, the Dutch side played explosively, especially after Napoli was reduced to 10 men.
The match started with high drama as Napoli confidently took the lead early. In the 13th minute, Scott McTominay, last season’s hero for Napoli, scored a close-range finish following a brilliant combination with Lorenzo Insigne, putting the visitors ahead 1-0. However, the Italian team’s joy was short-lived.
Just seven minutes later, PSV equalized when defender Alessandro Buongiorno accidentally scored an own goal while trying to block Johan Bakayoko’s cross. Riding the momentum, the home team increased the tempo and quickly reversed the situation. In the 26th minute, Ismael Saibari unleashed a stunning long-range shot beyond the penalty area, leaving goalkeeper Alex Meret helpless and putting PSV ahead 2-1.
In the second half, Napoli pushed forward to find an equalizer, but their defense showed too many weaknesses. In the 58th minute, Romanian striker Dennis Man easily tapped in after a perfect team move by the hosts, extending the lead to 3-1.
The situation worsened for Napoli in the 76th minute when Lorenzo Lucca was sent off for an aggressive reaction to the referee. Reduced to ten men, Antonio Conte’s team completely collapsed under PSV’s relentless attack.
Dennis Man completed his brace in the 79th minute with a cool finish inside the box, making it 4-1. Although McTominay sparked some hope for Napoli by scoring to reduce the deficit to 2-4 in the 85th minute, just two minutes later, Ricardo Pepi netted PSV’s fifth goal with a neat finish on a fast counterattack.
Not stopping there, Couhaib Driouech sealed the 6-2 victory for the hosts with a magnificent long-range strike, igniting the Philips Stadion in joyous celebration.
This win was not only a strong response from PSV after a slow start but also a confirmation of their formidable attacking power. Meanwhile, Napoli sank deeper into crisis with their second consecutive defeat under Antonio Conte.
