Anthony Hudson is preparing to become the head coach of the Thailand national team.

Multiple Thai media outlets have reported that Anthony Hudson, Technical Director of the Football Association of Thailand (FAT), is preparing to assume the role of head coach for the Thailand national team after Masatada Ishii’s contract was terminated yesterday, October 21.

The 44-year-old English coach is regarded as the top candidate for the "War Elephants" head coach position, with the key upcoming challenge being the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers, where Thailand still has two matches left and must secure qualification to the finals.

According to the plan, Hudson will lead the Thailand team in a friendly match against Singapore on November 13, then travel to Sri Lanka for the fifth round of the Asian Cup qualifiers on November 18, 2025, and finally host Turkmenistan at home in the last round on March 31, 2026.

Meanwhile, Japanese coach Masatada Ishii has quickly secured a new role, coaching a team in Poland’s second division.

Some players from True Bangkok United and the Thailand national team have also expressed their thanks to Coach Ishii after his departure from FAT.

Anthony Hudson, born in 1981 in the United States but holding British citizenship, is a young coach with rich international experience. He began his coaching career at age 27 with Real Maryland Monarchs (USA), then managed Newport County (England), earning recognition for his modern football philosophy. In 2012, Hudson was appointed head coach of Bahrain’s U23 team and later the senior national team, leading them to positive outcomes in the 2015 Asian Cup qualifiers.

From 2014 to 2017, he coached New Zealand, guiding the team to the intercontinental playoff for a spot in the 2018 World Cup. This achievement led US Soccer to entrust Hudson with leading the US national team during the 2022–2023 period, a transitional phase between two head coaches.

In 2025, Hudson moved to Thailand to work, managing BG Pathum United in 12 matches with a winning percentage over 58%, before being appointed Technical Director of the Football Association of Thailand in June 2025.
