With this honor, Công Vinh expressed gratitude to the club’s leadership in Nghệ An for giving him the chance to apply what he learned in practice.
Speaking to the Nghệ An Television channel, the former Vietnamese national player stated: "I would like to thank the SLNA club leaders, the youth training departments, as well as the coaches and players for supporting me to implement the ideas and training plans I have learned."
Additionally, the greatest scorer in Vietnam’s national team history affirmed his desire to serve Nghệ An football, while acknowledging the need to continue learning and gaining experience for the future.
Công Vinh added: "Sông Lam will always hold a special place in my heart. In the future, if I get the opportunity to lead SLNA club and Nghệ An football, it would be a great honor, and I would never refuse such a chance.

However, as I said, I need to keep learning, because with more knowledge and experience, I will be better equipped to do the job well in the future."
At his first training session in the new role, Công Vinh applied valuable knowledge to teach and coach young players considered the future of Nghệ An football. The former 1985-born player demonstrated skills on the field to pass on to trainees and pointed out areas for improvement to help players develop themselves.
If he makes significant progress soon, Công Vinh could be appointed head coach of SLNA’s first team, especially as the club is gradually losing its standing in Vietnam’s top-tier competition. This is an eagerly anticipated prospect for Nghệ An football fans, as their beloved team would be led by a national football icon and Vietnam’s national team legend.
