Following the 0-4 loss to Arsenal in the Champions League, Atletico's coach and players expressed high admiration for the London side, describing them as "among the best teams globally."
In the early hours of today (22/10), Atletico Madrid suffered a heavy 0-4 defeat at Emirates Stadium in the Champions League. This score clearly showed the gap between the two teams, and according to both coach Diego Simeone and defender David Hancko, Arsenal is currently on a much higher level.
Two second-half goals from Gabriel, Martinelli’s strike, and a double from Viktor Gyokeres secured a convincing win for Arsenal, reinforcing their status as top contenders in this season’s Champions League. Before that, the match was fairly balanced until the home side exploded with goals within just 13 minutes.

After the match, David Hancko admitted that he and his teammates faced an overwhelmingly strong team: "It was a very tough match. You could predict that because they truly are one of the best teams in the world right now. In the first half, we defended well, although they still created some chances. Personally, facing Bukayo Saka was always a big challenge."
The Slovak defender said Atletico stayed focused in the first half, but a single moment of lapse ruined all their efforts. "In the second half, they scored from a set piece. We also had chances to equalize but missed them, and just five minutes later the score was 3-0. That shows how strong they are – you can't lose concentration for even a second," Hancko added.

Hancko’s assessment aligns with coach Diego Simeone’s opinion. The Argentine manager considers Arsenal the strongest team Atletico has faced this season, despite meeting both Real Madrid and Liverpool. "I believe they are the best team we have played against this season. They played with great determination, never stopped running, and showed quality in every position on the field," Simeone shared.
With this dominant form, Arsenal is proving they have what it takes to conquer the Champions League this season. Can Mikel Arteta’s squad maintain their consistency to advance further in Europe’s most prestigious tournament?
