To get ready for the 2025/26 AFC Women's Champions League, the Ho Chi Minh City women's football club has brought in 6 skilled foreign players in succession.
After successfully defending their domestic championship, the Ho Chi Minh City Women’s Football Club I is busy gearing up for a new challenge at the 2025/26 AFC Women’s Champions League. In this competition, the Vietnamese representative is placed in Group A alongside Melbourne City (Australia), Stallion Laguna (Philippines), and Lion City Sailors (Singapore).
For tournament preparation, Ho Chi Minh City has made a strong investment in personnel by recruiting 6 foreign players, a record number in the club’s history. The list includes 4 players who previously played for Ho Chi Minh City last season such as Aubrey Goodwill, Maria Khan (Pakistan), Sakura Yoshida, and Tatiana Mason (USA), along with two notable newcomers, Ouni Samia (Tunisia) and Gorman Chloe.
Among them, Ouni Samia was crowned champion in the 2023/24 Saudi Arabian Women's League, and Gorman Chloe has experience playing in the Danish women's league. All foreign players have signed short-term contracts of 2 months, providing enough time for training and group stage matches, after which the club will consider contract extensions based on their performance.
Additionally, to ensure the best preparation for the competition, key Ho Chi Minh City players such as Huỳnh Như, Chương Thị Kiều, etc., were allowed to join the Vietnam women's national team later as they prepared for SEA Games 33. These players will join the national team after November 20, once the group stage of the Asian Cup concludes.
The matches of Group A will be held at Thống Nhất Stadium (Ho Chi Minh City) from November 13 to 19. With home advantage and a significantly strengthened squad, Ho Chi Minh City Women’s Club is full of hope to make a new mark for Vietnamese women's football on the continental stage.
