Casemiro delivers bad news, MU continues to face difficulties

Manchester United faces the threat of Casemiro missing games because of disciplinary sanctions, leaving coach Ruben Amorim troubled since the Brazilian remains a key, indispensable figure in the midfield.

Manchester United is confronted with a challenging situation as their key midfielder Casemiro is at risk of another suspension in the Premier League. Despite being 33 years old, the Brazilian player still plays a crucial role in coach Ruben Amorim’s system, who consistently favors him over Manuel Ugarte or Kobbie Mainoo in the central midfield.

Since the start of the season, Casemiro has played in 6 of the first 8 matches for the “Red Devils.” The only game he missed was the 1-3 loss to Brentford due to suspension. However, his aggressive playing style, typical of the star with 80 caps for Brazil, is causing concern for United. He has accumulated 5 cards in just 7 appearances, including 3 counted yellow cards and 2 that led to a red card during the 2-1 victory over Chelsea in September.

According to Premier League rules, a player will be banned for one match after receiving 5 yellow cards within the first 19 rounds. Notably, Casemiro has reached this threshold very early. He was cautioned during the draw with Fulham, received two cards against Chelsea, and was penalized again in the following rounds against Sunderland and Liverpool. Just two more cards and Casemiro will have to sit out another game.

If this happens in the upcoming matches against Brighton and Nottingham Forest, the “Red Devils” will lose him for the tough away game at Tottenham Hotspur on November 8, a fixture that could significantly impact the top-of-the-table race.

After round 19, the yellow card limit will increase to 10, but until then, Casemiro must play carefully, essentially “walking a tightrope.” So far, only Everton’s Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall has been suspended for reaching 5 yellow cards, but Casemiro could soon join him as the next name on that list.

If the worst-case scenario occurs, coach Ruben Amorim will have to adjust his midfield lineup. Manuel Ugarte is considered the primary replacement option, while Kobbie Mainoo, regarded as the club’s future, still has to compete with captain Bruno Fernandes for the remaining spot.

Casemiro remains the soul of United’s midfield, but with his heavy accumulation of cards, he is putting the team at risk—a “nightmare” that Amorim must resolve before it’s too late.
