Garnacho pays a high price for choosing to leave MU

Alejandro Garnacho is facing difficulties wearing the Chelsea jersey, and ex-footballer Paul Parker thinks the Argentine talent erred in departing from Man Utd.

After transferring from Manchester United to Chelsea for £40 million, Alejandro Garnacho has yet to make a significant impact at Stamford Bridge. Despite expectations to bring fresh energy to the Blues' attack, the Argentine player has not scored or assisted after multiple appearances.

Before this transfer took place, former Man Utd defender Paul Parker warned about Garnacho’s decision. He believed that leaving Old Trafford for Chelsea was an unwise move for both parties. “I think it was a wrong decision for both him and Chelsea when the transfer happened. He needs a fresh start, a different environment, and I believe going abroad could benefit his career,” Parker stated back in June.

Garnacho once angered coach Ruben Amorim by openly criticizing his exclusion from the lineup in the Europa League final. According to British media, the Portuguese manager responded sharply: “You’d better have a good agent this summer.” Afterwards, the 21-year-old forward officially left and chose Chelsea as his new club.

However, his journey in London has been far from smooth. In Chelsea’s 1-2 loss at Old Trafford, Garnacho remained on the bench. In the Champions League, coach Enzo Maresca didn’t play him even when Chelsea led Ajax 4-1 at halftime. The young player watched teammates Tyrique George, Reggie Walsh, Andrey Santos, Trevoh Chalobah, and Josh Acheampong come on instead.

Recently, Garnacho started in a 3-0 win over Nottingham Forest but was substituted early when Chelsea struggled. Forward Pedro Neto showed clear frustration as Garnacho missed several crosses. Commentator Peter Crouch agreed with Maresca’s substitution decision, saying, “Chelsea played a bit loosely, and Neto was obviously very disappointed with Garnacho.”

Given his current form, Garnacho must quickly regain confidence if he wants to prove his worth at Chelsea. Can the young Argentine star turn things around soon to silence the growing doubts?
