Even though Macarthur managed to equalize late in the game, CAHN continues to hold first place in Group E with 5 points.
The third round of the AFC Champions League group stage ended with surprising results for the Vietnamese representatives.
In the match on the evening of October 23, CAHN once again suffered a disappointing draw against Macarthur FC (Australia). Coach Mano Polking’s team started stronger and took the lead with a goal from Lê Văn Đô (30th minute). However, failing to capitalize on dangerous chances cost the home team dearly. Late in the second half, right after Nguyễn Filip left the field due to injury, CAHN conceded a goal and accepted a 1-1 draw. Nevertheless, they still temporarily top the group as Tai Po failed to overcome Beijing Guoan.
In the previous day’s match, Nam Định was unable to cause an upset, losing 3-1 to Gamba Osaka (Japan). After three rounds, the reigning V-League champions have 6 points and currently hold second place in the standings. Their chances to advance to the round of 16 remain wide open.
