Breaking News: Nam Định Appoints New Head Coach to Replace Coach Vũ Hồng Việt

The Steel Blue Nam Định Club has named Coach Nguyễn Trung Kiên as the new team leader. Conversely, Coach Vũ Hồng Việt will serve as the Technical Director.

On the afternoon of October 24th, the Steel Blue Nam Định Club announced changes in the coaching staff. Accordingly, Mr. Nguyễn Trung Kiên will assume the position of head coach, while Mr. Vũ Hồng Việt will continue as the club’s Technical Director.

Born in 1979, Mr. Nguyễn Trung Kiên is a product of Nam Định’s youth academy and played as a midfielder. He has played for Nam Định, Saigon Port, and has been called up to the Vietnam national team. In 2023, he was appointed Technical Director of the Steel Blue Nam Định Club, working alongside Coach Vũ Hồng Việt to win two V-League titles and one Vietnamese Super Cup over the past three seasons.

After winning two consecutive championships, Steel Blue Nam Định has faced a crisis with a poor start to the 2025/26 season, earning only 7 points in 7 matches. In the international competitions AFC Champions League Two and Shopee Cup, the team has won three matches and lost one out of four games.

It is known that Coach Nguyễn Trung Kiên will begin his duties starting from the training session on the afternoon of October 24th at Steel Blue Nam Định.
