Forward Federico Chiesa has officially been named Liverpool's Player of the Month for September. This marks the first time the Italian star has received this honor since joining the "Reds."
According to the announced results, Chiesa secured 34% of the votes, surpassing Alisson Becker and Ryan Gravenberch (both at 18%) to top Liverpool's Player of the Month poll for September. Speaking at the AXA Training Centre upon receiving the award, Chiesa expressed his gratitude:
“I’m very happy to receive this award. Thanks to the fans for their support and votes. Honestly, I would be willing to forgo this prize if the team could win more matches. Still, I truly appreciate the fans. I always strive to give my all for Liverpool, and it’s wonderful to see that recognized.”
Although he only played in 3 matches during September, Chiesa managed to make an impact by contributing to 3 goals.
In the Carabao Cup third round win against Southampton, the number 14 delivered 2 assists for Alexander Isak and Hugo Ekitike, earning him the Man of the Match award.
A few days later, Chiesa came off the bench and scored in the Premier League match against Crystal Palace, even though Liverpool failed to secure any points.
“I’m glad to have scored, but it’s disappointing that the team couldn’t get any points. A goal means little if the result isn’t favorable. Hopefully, we can improve that moving forward,” Chiesa added.
He also emphasized his readiness to contribute whether starting or coming off the bench: “No matter how many minutes I play, I always try to help the team, stay positive, and influence the game. That’s why I’m here — to give my best for Liverpool and bring joy to the fans.”
This award is proof of Chiesa’s reintegration at Anfield, where he is becoming one of the key attacking players under coach Arne Slot. Before Chiesa, Dominik Szoboszlai was Liverpool’s Player of the Month for August.
