The young Thai player who scored against PSG, Erawan Garnier, has recently made a proud step forward by securing a professional contract with Lens through 2027.
French club Lens has officially announced the signing of 19-year-old attacking midfielder Erawan Garnier from Olympique Lyon. The young player signed a contract valid until 2027, marking a crucial milestone in his career journey in Europe.
Erawan Garnier joined Lyon’s academy in 2019 at just 13 years old. Wearing Lyon’s U19 jersey, he scored 5 goals in 17 matches, notably netting against PSG’s U21 team at the Tournoi Europeen U21 held in France. He demonstrated refined ball control skills and creativity in midfield. In January 2024, at age 18, he made his debut in National 3, the fifth tier of French football, beginning his professional playing career.
Consistent performances earned Erawan a call-up to Thailand’s U23 team for the 2024 AFC U23 Championship, marking his first international tournament appearance. This served as a stepping stone that impressed Lens scouts.
Sporting director Jean-Louis Leca commented on the new signing: “Erawan is a highly talented player with solid technical foundations and a modern tactical mindset. This contract represents a major step forward in his career. We have monitored Erawan for a long time and received very positive feedback from Pierre Sage, who coached him at Lyon.”
Leca further emphasized: “Erawan is a hardworking, strong player who always prioritizes the team’s interests. He will bring youth, ambition, and healthy competition to our squad.”
With a three-year contract, Erawan Garnier becomes one of the rare Thai players to sign a professional deal in Ligue 1, France’s top division. This transfer not only marks a proud milestone for Erawan personally but also signals a positive development for young Thai footballers striving to break into Europe.
