Coach Harry Kewell is dissatisfied with one aspect in Vietnam

Coach Harry Kewell highlighted the reasons why he felt uneasy during his time working in Vietnam.

Coach Harry Kewell achieved his first victory with Hanoi FC after securing all three points at Go Dau Stadium against the home team Becamex TP.HCM. In a "water battle" lasting over 90 minutes, the capital club showed the resilience of a title contender to claim a dramatic win.

After the match, Coach Harry Kewell expressed relief that the team earned valuable three points under harsh playing conditions, while also expressing concern about player safety.

Specifically, the Australian coach shared: "We didn’t expect to win in such difficult weather and pitch conditions. But football is like that. Sometimes you have to adapt rather than try to play your usual way.

The important thing is that the players stayed focused and resilient, and in the end, we got our first three points. To me, that’s the most valuable thing."

Additionally, the former Liverpool player emphasized his dissatisfaction with Vietnam’s weather, which could lead to player injuries.

He stated: "I am always concerned about the players’ safety. The waterlogged pitch, heavy ball, and difficult movement make it easy for anyone to slip and get injured. We come to watch football, and so do I, but today it was clearly very hard for the match to proceed normally. Nevertheless, both teams tried their best to deliver an entertaining game."

Finally, the 1978-born coach praised his players’ performance and affirmed the spirit and determination of the capital club during the period he gradually built a new playing style.

He added: “We demonstrated adaptability and a fighting spirit. I am truly proud of my players. Despite unfavorable conditions, they gave their all to bring joy to the capital’s fans.”

The match at Go Dau Stadium took place under heavy rain, causing the pitch to flood and a nearly 20-minute pause. After play resumed, Viet Cuong capitalized on Hanoi’s defensive error to open the scoring for Becamex TPHCM. However, Hanoi quickly regained control, with Passira equalizing 1-1 before halftime. In the second half, Hoang Hen scored a penalty to put the visitors ahead 2-1. Although Oduenyi missed an equalizing chance, Xuan Manh and Ferreira each added a goal, sealing a 3-2 victory for the capital club.
