Ruben Amorim is on cloud nine as MU secures their third consecutive win

Former defender Gary Neville commented that Ruben Amorim has just experienced his best period since taking charge of MU, with the club now achieving a streak of three straight victories in the Premier League.

Against Brighton, MU’s new attacking recruits shone brightly. Matheus Cunha scored his first goal for the club in the 2025/26 season, while Bryan Mbeumo netted a brace in the second half, helping Manchester United maintain momentum after their impressive win at Liverpool’s Anfield. The victory over Brighton propelled Manchester United into the group of top teams in the standings, a surprising achievement after a disappointing start to the season.

Neville shared on Sky Sports: “You could say this is the best week of work, no, maybe the finest period Ruben Amorim has had since arriving here. Previously, everyone could feel the pressure weighing heavily on Amorim. I wouldn’t be surprised if talks of dismissal had been mentioned. After a tough spell before the October international break, I genuinely thought a change could happen at any moment. But then the win at Anfield changed everything. And today’s victory over Brighton is even more significant.

Of course, Manchester United have transformed, but things are not yet perfect. It’s not the time to be overly optimistic. However, they seem to be gradually returning to the position many expected, being in the top six. They might temporarily drop to sixth or seventh after other teams play, but that’s where we once believed they belonged. Clearly, this has been an extremely important week for Amorim and the club. Look at how he and the players celebrated; it was not just joy from winning but also relief from the pressure that had been building for so long.”

The former club captain also admitted that just a few weeks ago, he was worried the players might lose faith in Amorim’s philosophy and toughness: “That’s completely normal. When a team isn’t winning, doubts arise, and the media, including myself, add to that pressure. However, one thing that will never change is the respect the players have for Amorim. They genuinely admire him as a person, and that means a lot. In my view, Amorim’s difference from his predecessors lies there. He has never lost the dressing room. The players’ spirit, energy, and fighting desire remain intact. They want to win for him, and we have seen that over the past week.”

Finally, Neville warned that there is still much work ahead and that Amorim and his team should soon come back down to earth: “In the next matches, MU will face Nottingham Forest and then Tottenham away. This month remains crucial, and MU will look ahead to November and December with key turning points. Everything is moving in the right direction, and hopefully, MU will perform even better.”
