Manchester United defeated Brighton 4-2 at home on Saturday, moving up to 6th in the Premier League table. Yet for some players, including defensive midfielder Ugart who came on as a substitute, the victory was a personal disappointment as the "Seagulls" nearly leveled the score. Luckily, Mbemo netted a late goal to secure the result.

Statistics show that Ugart has started only three matches across all competitions this season, all of which Manchester United lost. Due to his poor form, the latest valuation on Germany's "Transfermarkt" dropped the 24-year-old Uruguayan international's worth by 10 million euros since late May, now estimated at 35 million euros. When he joined United in 2024, his value was still as high as 50 million euros!
According to English media statistics, Ugart has suffered the steepest decline in market value among current Manchester United players this season, nearly double that of any teammate! His midfield rival, Kobie Meno, ranks second with a drop from 50 million euros to 45 million euros.
Manchester United had hoped Ugart would fill the long-standing defensive midfield gap, but he has proven disappointing. Both Ten Hag, who signed him, and Amorim, who worked with him at Sporting Lisbon, eventually chose to bench him. Amorim's decision to completely exclude Ugart from last season's crucial Europa League final says it all.
Currently, Casemiro is United's first-choice midfielder, and barring injuries, that is unlikely to change. Meanwhile, Turkish media report that reigning Super Lig champions Galatasaray are interested in Ugart and have included him on their list for possible January acquisitions.
However, Manchester United currently has only three central midfielders, Casemiro is nearly 34, and 20-year-old Meno is considering leaving. Therefore, Amorim is unlikely to allow Ugart to leave mid-season. But next summer could be different; the Red Devils will definitely buy a new midfielder, and if Ugart's situation doesn't improve, he could be offloaded.

Among recent Manchester United signings, Ugart is one of the players who has depreciated the most, second only to Sancho, who is currently on loan at Aston Villa and whose value fell from 95 million euros to 25 million euros.
Other players with significant value drops include Zirkzee, whose worth declined from 42 million euros to 28 million euros, and Hojlund, from 65 million euros to 45 million euros. However, Hojlund's price has since rebounded, potentially bringing United a total transfer income of 50 million euros.
The 25-year-old Sancho might leave on a free transfer when his contract expires next year, as his loan spell at Aston Villa has not gone well. On Sunday, he faced a humiliating moment when coach Emery substituted him on and then off again. Sancho was furious and tried to ignore the coach, disregarding the two teammates about to enter and refusing to acknowledge Emery. But the coach stopped him and explained the situation.
Sancho replaced the injured assist provider Buendia in the 29th minute of the first half and performed decently, but his playing time lasted only 45 minutes. At the 74th minute, Villa substituted Sancho off again for Evan Gaisande. Being subbed on and off in the same match is a severe blow to any player.
Coach Emery explained: "Yes, Sancho was unhappy. It's not easy, but first, you must know he played 60 minutes in the Europa League against Fenerbahce. He just returned and is improving, but his fitness isn't sufficient yet. I originally planned to bring him on as a substitute in the second half, but Buendia's injury accelerated his entry. I wanted to use his skills and strength. He performed okay, but I had already planned to sub him off again after about 30 minutes; instead, he played 45 minutes. This isn't unusual; I have done the same with Morgan Rogers, Buendia, and Leon Bailey before. But I understand it is awkward."

Villa ultimately held off Manchester City's comeback to maintain a 1-0 lead until the final whistle. City's striker Haaland's equalizer was disallowed for offside, allowing Emery to secure his fourth consecutive Premier League win, with Villa now just one point behind Manchester United in the standings.
