The home team opened the scoring in the 24th minute through Jairo Rodrigues, followed by Ha Ryan doubling the lead in the 61st minute, surprising fans with the offensive efficiency after several rounds of silence.
Although Thể Công Viettel continuously attacked to find an equalizer, they only managed to score in the 13th minute of added time through Lucas Vinicius, finalizing the score at 2-1. This result denied the soldiers the chance to close the gap with league leaders Ninh Bình FC and risks losing their second place as Công an Hà Nội still has two matches left to play.
The victory gave HAGL their first valuable points in the 2025-2026 season, moving them up to 13th place with 6 points, escaping the bottom of the table. However, the team’s joy might be overshadowed if the federation imposes the penalty, which could affect their preparation plans for upcoming rounds.
In round 9, HAGL will again play at home, facing the defending champions Nam Định, a challenge expected to be very tough. Given the current situation, the team must maintain their form while avoiding mistakes that lead to cards to secure their goal of avoiding relegation and improving their V-League standing.
