Thép Xanh Nam Định continues to face tough times after being held 1-1 by SHB Đà Nẵng in round 8 of the LPBank V-League 2025/26 at Thiên Trường Stadium on the evening of October 27. This marks the fifth consecutive match without a win for the Nam Định team in Vietnam’s top football league, extending their two-month run without a full three points.

Previously, the club’s management decided to replace the head coach, appointing Mr. Nguyễn Trung Kiên to succeed Mr. Vũ Hồng Việt in an attempt to invigorate the team, although results have not yet shown significant improvement.
In this situation, on the morning of October 28, naturalized striker Xuân Son posted a message on his personal page to comfort and call for continued support from Nam Định fans. He said: “We will come back stronger, I promise. Thank you to the fans who have always supported the team. There is still a long way ahead, and we will fight wholeheartedly for Nam Định’s colors.”
Xuân Son is currently recovering from an injury and was not registered to play in the first phase of this season. The striker, born in 1997, can only return when the mid-season transfer window opens after round 11.
Although the reigning champions, Thép Xanh Nam Định has only secured 8 points from 8 matches in the V-League 2025/26. Meanwhile, in the AFC Champions League Two and Shopee Cup, the team has achieved 3 wins and 1 loss.
Coach Nguyễn Trung Kiên said after the draw with SHB Đà Nẵng: “Our aim was to avoid defeat; the players gave their all despite an incomplete squad. Nam Định is facing challenges but has not abandoned the goal of defending the championship. The most crucial thing now is to rekindle the team’s winning spirit.”
He affirmed that the coaching staff will keep adjusting tactics to suit each opponent to quickly bring the team back into contention.
