Real Madrid decided not to punish Vinícius Jr following his angry reaction during the El Clasico game, even though the Brazilian striker openly challenged coach Xabi Alonso after being taken off midway through the second half.
According to sources from Cadena SER, Real Madrid has opted not to impose any sanctions on Vinícius Jr for his impulsive outburst in the recent El Clasico match.
The Brazilian star exploded in anger after being replaced by coach Xabi Alonso in the 70th minute, at a time when Real Madrid was leading Barcelona 2-1. In his fury, Vinícius stormed directly into the tunnel, repeatedly complaining about the substitution decision. The number 7 striker reportedly shouted: “It’s always me! I’m leaving the team! It’s better if I go!”. However, a few minutes later, he returned to the bench after calming down.
Normally, Real Madrid enforces strict penalties on players who react in such a manner. However, in this case, the club’s management issued only an internal warning and chose to forgive Vinícius instead of imposing a financial penalty.
This incident sparked significant controversy within the club. Real Madrid reaffirmed their full support for coach Alonso, emphasizing that substitution decisions fall entirely under his professional authority. Nevertheless, some internal sources revealed the management’s strong dissatisfaction with Vinícius’s attitude, as similar past behaviors had been dealt with severely.
From his side, Vinícius feels that his role in the team is undervalued despite his constant efforts. This season, the 25-year-old has started 10 matches but only completed 3 fully, frequently being substituted or benched, which makes him feel unappreciated. At coach Alonso’s request, Vinícius has also had to contribute more defensively, sacrificing the attacking strengths that are his hallmark.
AS further revealed that Vinícius is seriously considering his future if the situation does not improve. Although he wants to stay and renew his contract (currently valid until 2027), he privately shared that he might leave next summer if he continues to feel undervalued within the team’s plans.
