Juventus is currently facing a phase of significant upheaval following the club’s decision to part ways with coach Igor Tudor after only 8 Serie A matches, creating an opportunity for Luciano Spalletti.
Juventus has chosen to end Igor Tudor’s contract after 8 rounds in the 2025/26 Serie A season. This decision came immediately after a 0-1 loss to Lazio, extending the “Old Lady’s” winless streak to 8 matches across all competitions, a poor run that forced the management to take action.
In a recent official statement, Juventus confirmed that youth team coach Massimo Brambilla will temporarily assume the head coach role. However, this is only a short-term solution while the club urgently searches for a long-term successor. According to SkySport Italia, the leading candidate is Luciano Spalletti, the former Italy national team manager.
Sources reveal that Juventus and Spalletti have scheduled direct negotiations today. The “Old Lady” plans to offer a contract until the end of the 2025-26 season, with an extension clause if the team qualifies for next season’s Champions League. Juventus is prepared to pay Spalletti about 3 million Euros per year, a salary comparable to what Tudor earned before being dismissed.
Spalletti remains available since leaving the Italy national team in June. Despite receiving attractive offers from Fenerbahce and clubs in Qatar, the 66-year-old coach remains determined to return to Serie A, where he has enjoyed considerable success.
Previously, Spalletti led Napoli to the Serie A title in the 2022-23 season, securing the club’s first Scudetto in 33 years. Additionally, he has managed Roma, Inter Milan, and has been named Serie A’s best coach three times (2006, 2007, 2023).
Currently, Juventus sits 8th with 12 points after 8 rounds, 6 points behind league leaders Napoli, and has only earned 2 points from 3 Champions League matches. If negotiations proceed smoothly, Spalletti could officially debut as Juventus coach this weekend against Cremonese. The return of this experienced manager is expected to help the “Old Lady” regain her stature in Serie A and Europe.
