Leaving Vietnam, Vietnamese-American Chelsea Le joins the American National League

Vietnamese-American midfielder Chelsea Le is currently playing for Club Leon Femenil in the Mexican National League after departing from TPHCM I club in April.

Specifically, the player born in 2001 started playing for the Mexican club from the beginning of the 2025/26 season. According to statistics from Flashcore, Chelsea Lien Le has made 7 appearances and provided 2 assists for her current team. At present, her team ranks 9th out of 18 in the standings this season after 16 rounds.

Earlier in early 2025, Chelsea Le signed a contract with TPHCM I to compete in the 2024/25 Asian Women's Club Championship as well as the Vietnamese National Cup. After scoring the opening goal for TPHCM I in the National Cup semi-final against Than KSVN on April 3rd, the midfielder said farewell to her teammates to return to the U.S. to continue her career as an engineer.

There were many rumors that Chelsea Le would return to TPHCM I in May 2025 for the Asian Cup semi-final against Wuhan Jiangda, but this did not happen. According to coach Doan Thi Kim Chi, Chelsea Le was trialing with several teams in Mexico and Spain at that time, so she could not come back to participate.

Chelsea Le is considered one of the promising Vietnamese-American players in Vietnamese women's football. Before her return in 2025, she trained with the Vietnam U19 women's team in 2019. Upon her comeback, the 2001-born player has matured and improved significantly in both physical and technical skills.

The head coach of the Vietnam women's national team, Mr. Mai Duc Chung, also highly appreciates the ability of this Vietnamese-American player: "Regarding professional skills, I rate Chelsea Le and Ashley Tram Anh very highly. If the Vietnam team can add players like them, our squad will be stronger and more abundant."
